My heart, the chief object of the manyphysicians, was normal excepting for afew minutes after finishing each mile,when its action quickened for a shortperiod. I only lost 14 pounds during thewalk. Shortly after OLeary successfully THE CAREER OF DAN OLEARY 65 completed his 1,000-mile walk he walkedfor one week against his German rival,Henry Schmehl, at the Music Hall inCincinnati, defeating him in a walk forthe greatest number of miles in a given time. OLeary has walkcJ officially99,000 miles and after he walks 100,-000 miles officially he will retire. Hewalks many miles daily just for exerciseand never rides on a street car.
