Regel 346:
:P --Ooswesthoesbes 18 nov 2011 15:19 (CET)

Thanks. I used to speak some Dutch, but given that I've been learning German for a year, if I spoke to you in Dutch it would be a bloody disaster. But you're close to German border, so maybe you're used to hearing Germans butchering your language. LOL. Anyway, I have a good knowledge of standard and modern Hollandic Dutch (a fancy description of Polder Dutch) phonology, so I decided to add some pronunciations. I don't know much about Belgium and Limburg, and assumed that our guide is accurate. I know about /ɑ/ often being pronounced [a] (and /aː/ can be pronounced [ɑː~ɒː]), but are you completely sure about the rest? I mean, [e o y] for /ɛ ɔ ʏ/ sounds strange. I don't know about the rest, but I'm almost sure that southeners use [œ], not [y] in hut. The northern /ʏ/ is not [ʏ] at all, by the way. It's like [ɵ], but a bit more front and lower. I've heard some girl teaching Dutch on Youtube describing it as a stressed schwa, and it's not a bad description, just that it's higher and more front than the usual schwa.

I've also read that WikiWoordenboek does not use length mark anywhere for simplicity. It's probably on one of the IPA pages.

And remember that slashes - phonemic transcriptions, don't mean the same as brackets - phonetic transcriptions. And even between brackets there still are no rules on how accurate the transcriptions must be. Cheers mate.
